Adaminaby Trout Final Paint Design-test

We are seeking community input on the final paint design for the Adaminaby Trout. Please share your feedback via the survey below by 11.59pm Sunday 21 April 2024.

Background

Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the unveiling of the sculpture, created by Adaminaby-based artist Andy Lomnici in 1973. Andy was a Hungarian-born multi-disciplinary artist who came to Australia in 1940, working as a teacher before becoming a full-time artist based out of Adaminaby later in life.

The major maintenance and restoration work on Adaminaby’s Big Trout was undertaken in late 2023. Now it's time to have your say on the final paint design.

Our community, regular visitors and admirers across the country feel a deep connection to the Adaminaby Big Trout and what it represents. Council commissioned the designs, taking inspiration from the original design, community and well-known aquatic wildlife artist Trevor Hawkins on the direction, of the options that you can now select as the final paint job.

The community is now invited to pick their favourite design. The option that receives the most votes will be the design painters apply to the Big Trout in late May 2024.
